Vegas baby, Vegas

I’m just finishing breakfast and preparing to hit the road, again, after spending two nights and a much needed rest day in Las Vegas.

Yesterday, I visited the Hoover Dam. It was very impressive but smaller than I had imagined it. It was a nice, 35 mile ride to the Dam, a 70 mile round trip. That, sure as hell, was a nicer day than the 400 mile ride from Sequoia NP to Vegas on Thursday.

The trip across the Mohave Desert to get to Vegas wasn’t without merit, however. It’s a, mostly, straightish highway with good, clean pavement (important on a bike), with a gradual elevation climb to about 4000′, then a gradual slope back down. Traffic flys on this 200 mile stretch of road and I made good time.

This morning, I’m headed to the Grand Canyon and have some decisions to make, from there. IMG_5967
